Design computing, along with other related terms like computational design and design and computation, refers to the study and application of design activities through the creation and utilization of innovative computing concepts and methods. The University of Sydney in Australia’s Key Centre of Design Computing and Cognition, which led the way in design and computational technology research, education, and consulting for almost 40 years (from the late 1960s to the early 2000s), was one of the first organizations to use this term.
